Happy Thanksgiving!
“May the Lord bless us and keep us;
May the Lord make His face to shine upon us;
And He be gracious to us;
May the Lord turn His face toward us;
And give us peace.”
Amen.
I am grateful for having two wonderful friends. I read a study this past year noting how Americans are becoming more lonely and isolated. This is evident everywhere I go (There is a reason why people bomb themselves with alcohol every weekend, and sometimes almost every day. The screaming emptiness is ubiquitous.). To see what passes for friendship nowadays– constant belittling humor, emasculation, public humiliations (Don’t worry. “It’s all good”.)– I am so grateful to have two friends who never undermine me, and who loves me as they would themselves.
I am grateful for my family, who, despite our difficulties, loves me very much. Perhaps this is only from my narrow point of view, but I don’t know of many families in today’s world that even cares for their children. In raising me, my parents at times didn’t have dinner to ensure my brothers and I had enough to eat. They denied their wants to give us the fruits of their labors and a decent life. They didn’t have to do this. They could have easily indulged what scant money they had and spent it on foods of convenience and having a good time, like so many parents nowadays.
I am grateful for living in America. My family’s story is an immigrant’s story. We were part of the “boat people” coming out of Vietnam when the South collapsed. When my family had to flee the Communists, America opened up her arms and gave us everything.
I am grateful for God’s love and mercy upon me. The more I walk the Christian path, the more I am truly myself. With the world growing increasingly mad and the hearts of men growing ever coarser, our Lord Jesus has seen fit to grant me joy upon joy and grace after grace. I don’t know of anyone to whom He has bestowed this great gift, except my two friends and I. He does this even as the spirit of the Antichrist is rising in this world.
Blessed be His name forever and ever. Amen.
“I am grateful for living in America.”-amen.
